GEORGE’S GREEK CAFE OF LAKEWOOD CHANGES OWNERSHIP, ADDS BREAKFAST THIS SUMMER

Since the passing of its founders, the three locations for George’s Greek Cafe have been split to different owners, with the Lakewood location (on Candlewood) recently passing into the capable hands of Kent and Jacqueline Killian, owners of Sunrise Café on Lakewood Blvd and Carson St.

“We’ve eaten at George’s Greek Cafe for years and have always loved the food and atmosphere there,” says Kent. “We’re excited to bring our personal family touch to the popular restaurant, with an emphasis on customer service. And eager to help breathe life back into Candlewood Street, known as ‘Restaurant Row’ in Lakewood!”

The couple had been looking into buying a second restaurant in the area to help alleviate the overflow breakfast crowd from Sunrise Café, which often has a wait during peak hours and on peak days. They jumped at the opportunity to purchase a place like George’s… already a local favorite for lunch and dinner.

“As far as I’m concerned, nothing about the menu needs changing… or the atmosphere for that matter,” says Jacqueline.  Their primary plans upon transfer of ownership this summer include opening earlier and adding the Sunrise Café Breakfast menu with a few Greek additions, and for the first time ever… serving cocktails with their popular breakfast dishes at the Candlewood location.

Another focus will be elevating the bar menu in general and making sure George’s on Candlewood remains a popular bar location for those looking to watch sports and enjoy live music on weekends! Located at 5252 Faculty Ave, Lakewood, 90712.
