This issue, LB908 Publisher John Grossi interviewed Uri and Sigal Benhaim, owners of general contractor, Home Renew 360.

John: What is Home Renew 360?
Uri: We are a general contractor who can help you with almost anything you want to renew in your home. From full house remodels to roofing, garage conversion to ADU, kitchen and bath remodels, plumbing, electrical, landscape design, exterior design, windows, solar and more.
John: Why did you start this business?
Uri: In the early 2000s, I was working as a project manager for a similar construction company which eventually folded. At the same time, my wife Sigal was a teacher, and I remember she would come home almost every night with a new “nightmare contractor story” from the teacher’s lounge about a coworker’s remodel or home improvement project. She and I wanted to create a new company that would dedicate itself to providing excellent service and workmanship. No nightmare contractor stories… there are way too many of those.

John: Sounds easier said than done… how do you make sure your projects don’t become nightmare stories?
Sigal: While we are a small business, we are a larger operation than many contractors. This allows us to provide a different experience. The first thing we do is instill a value of 5-star service and communication into every single one of our project managers and other team members. Each individual project we take on has a singular project manager who is with the customer from start to finish ensuring everything is completed quickly and correctly and to the homeowner’s wish.
Uri: Also, we avoid “nightmare” scenarios because everyone who works on your home is an expert at what they do. With our project manager as the steady command and supervisor, we have different teams completing every facet of the project according to their specialty. Your roofer isn’t the same guy as your plumber, who isn’t the same guy as your framer, who isn’t the same guy as your painter. That’s the key to our success. When we have a team installing your cabinets, you can rest assured that cabinet installation is their specialty and that is all they do.
We also have some 14 people working at our office who help with scheduling, customer service, warranties and more. Our clients are not only in direct and constant communication with their project manager but they can get a hold of us 24/7.

John: So, it sounds like the key to avoiding “nightmares” is great communication and expert service. Anything else?
Uri: Yes, two things. The first one’s really important. We do everything by the book. That means everything is done according to industry guidelines and code. We are never going to put the homeowner in a situation where they are held liable for something that wasn’t done correctly. We are licensed, bonded, and insured, and don’t cut any corners.
John: What’s the second thing?
Uri: The last measure we offer that really sets us apart is our warranty department. There’s a phrase used in the construction industry called “tailgate warranty.” This means your warranty effectively ends at the time you see the back of your contractor’s truck drive away on the final day of the job. Most people never see their contractor again.
By contrast, we are a company set up with the goal of earning your repeat business and to be here for the long haul. So, we offer a real warranty to all our customers. If anything does go wrong, you can count on us being there to address the issue. We have an extensive staff at our physical office where you can reach staff members dedicated solely to handling any warranty issues on our projects.

John: You mentioned you’re a large operation… how big is your company and where does Long Beach fit into the mix?
Sigal: Since 2015, we’ve completed over 5,000 jobs in all five counties surrounding Long Beach. However, Long Beach is our home, that is where our office is and where most of our employees live, eat, breathe, and sleep. We love the 908 area for its great neighborhoods, friendly faces and a real sense of community.
John: What are your most common jobs?
Uri: Probably roofing and kitchen and bath remodels. Followed by full house remodels, ADU conversions and additions.
John: Any final words that you would like our readers to know about your company?
Uri: It’s really our craftsmanship that sets us apart. We strive to be a contractor who you can trust to do quality work with excellent service and integrity. Our priority is fair pricing and quality craftsmanship. With our dedicated team and our years of experience in the industry, we can ensure the job will run smoothly and be executed correctly. We provide a quality of service that builds long term relationships with our clients, who often return for future projects.
