THE TOP 3 DUMPLING SPOTS IN LONG BEACH (according to our @LB908 community)

By Monique Garcia | Photos by Monique Kuhlman

Prompted by a reader request, last year we asked our LB908 Instagram community where we could find the best dumplings in Long Beach. We followed your suggestions and did a little research of our own. A special thanks to these three restaurants for taking the time to share their story and food with LB 908! Without further ado, here are the Top 3 Dumpling Spots as suggested by our community and vetted by us.

LV SEAFOOD

4139 Norse Way, Long Beach, CA 90808

“I, myself, select the freshest, most high quality ingredients. I may be called picky, but it is worth it to see my customers happy.” - Sam Huang, Owner of LV Seafood

You can feel the warmth and comfort exuded by LV Seafood the second you walk through its doors. Owned and operated by Sam Huang, LV Seafood is a family-run business that specializes in providing the best service possible. Alongside his wife, children, and extended family, Sam is dedicated to accommodating his loyal customers and making them feel at home during a great meal. As for the dumplings, there is no question as to why they are a fan favorite. Ordered either steamed or fried, the dumplings are handcrafted daily by Sam’s wife Yina with the utmost care and precision. The mouthwatering combination of pork and cabbage is paired with a simple but delicious dipping sauce of fresh ginger and vinegar. There is no question that LV Seafood goes above and beyond for the quality of their dumplings. I personally can’t wait to return and make my way down the menu.

CHA FOR TEA

5720 E. 7th Street, Long Beach, CA 90803

“We see every person that comes through our doors as another opportunity to make someone’s day a little better and share ‘a cup of happiness’.” - Calvin Siy, Manager of Cha For Tea

In business since 2002, Cha For Tea has seen its neighbors in the Bixby Village Plaza come and go. The manager, Calvin, attributes their lasting success to their dedication to providing happy smiles and great drinks. The bubble tea shop is close to CSULB and a hidden gem for dumpling lovers. Fried or steamed, Cha For Tea’s dumplings are our readers’ go-to snack when they stop here for boba and tea. With 3 different dumpling flavors (original, cajun, and salt & pepper), the tasty chicken and vegetable dumplings satisfy that craving you might be having. Each order is served with a choice of a special house blended soy sauce or an all-natural sweet and sour sauce. The positivity and happiness from the workers is infectious as I definitely left with a big smile.

SURA KOREAN BBQ & TOFU HOUSE

621 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach, CA, 90802

The Kim family definitely succeeded on their mission of bringing a slice of Koreatown to Downtown Long Beach by opening Sura Korean BBQ & Tofu House. The gastropub, which opened in 2008, has since become one of the most popular spots for KBBQ in Long Beach. Although they are best known for their authentic tofu soup and fusion dishes, the vegetable dumplings are nothing to sleep on. The beautifully plated dumplings are served with housemade dipping sauce and are the perfect appetizer to share with friends and family. The vegetable dumplings are just one of many vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free options the Sura offers. Don’t wait to try them, the difficulty I had of trying to snag a table on Saturday night speaks for itself.
