This summer, there’s a great new family business to try. Juice It Up! Long Beach is located in the Spring Street shopping center, east of Palo Verde and south of Spring. Franchise owner and 90808 resident, Wes Cureton shares, it has been his lifelong dream to own a business. After retiring from 30 years working for the federal government, he researched several potential franchise options to bring to East Long Beach. When it came time to choose, he exclaims, “I was sold on the taste of a smoothie!”

Juice It Up! offers a variety of handcrafted smoothies, raw juices and açaí and superfruit bowls--perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack. Their extensive menu has four main sections:

• Raw plant and fruit-based juices

• Classic smoothies such as “Mango Mania” and “Strawberry Wave”

• Fruit-based bowls like açaí and dragon fruit with fun toppings such as granola, coconut, honey and more

• Specialty drinks with lots of protein for athletes and fun flavors like the PB Cold Brew Mocha Smoothie

“At the end of the day, this is fun food,” says Wes. “Sherbet, smoothies, and bowls... you eat that when you’re having fun. Our vibe epitomizes Long Beach, this is food you can serve at a backyard party (Juice It Up! offers catering options), barbecues, and best of all, it’s fun food that’s better for you.”

Being part of the Long Beach community is Wes’ favorite aspect in owning Juice It Up!, which celebrated one year in business this May. “My wife and I met in Long Beach, and we moved to this neighborhood so our daughter and son could go to Millikan. The fact that we get to employ Millikan and CSULB students is something I’m really proud of.” Wes says the neighborhood supported his business immediately and he can’t wait to get to know even more customers this summer!
