About Dr. Roizenblatt Dr. Roberto Roizenblatt’s journey to Long Beach began far from the California coast. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, he completed medical school at the University of São Paulo’s School of Medicine in 1997. During his second ophthalmology residency at UC Irvine (completed in 2011), Dr. Roizenblatt’s specialized training at the Doheny Eye Institute exposed him to the exceptional potential of Southern California’s healthcare landscape. Two years of concentrated study on retina and vitreous diseases culminated in his decision to establish a permanent retinal practice in the area. After a decade working in Long Beach, Dr. Roizenblatt expanded his practice by opening Long Beach Retina in 2023, in the modern Douglas Park development.
About Dr. Roizenblatt Dr. Roberto Roizenblatt’s journey to Long Beach began far from the California coast. After a decade working in Long Beach, Dr. Roizenblatt expanded his practice by opening Long Beach Retina in 2023, in the modern Douglas Park development.

Retina care is one of the fastest growing subspecialties in ophthalmology, according to Dr. Roizenblatt. His state-of-the-art local practice addresses a variety of eye and sight issues including diabetic eye damage, macular degeneration, retinal detachments, vision loss, floaters, and complications from previous surgical interventions.

Long Beach Retina operates as a family-owned, independent physician practice — a structure that enables greater attention to high quality staffing and emerging technologies, while avoiding the cost constraints and mandates that affect private equity-owned healthcare organizations.

Dr. Roizenblatt utilizes advanced diagnostic imaging, high-end medications, and state-of-the-art laser systems for targeted intervention.

While many new patients are referrals from local optometrists and ophthalmologists, it is not uncommon for patients to arrive with urgent visual concerns or unexplained symptoms. Recently, a patient who came in with vision loss after cataract surgery, within two months of focused treatment by Dr. Roizenblatt, was able to return to daily activities!

Protecting Eye Health

Clinical outcomes that preserve and restore vision define the practice’s core mission: protecting sight and establishing clear pathways to sustained ocular health.

Dr. Roizenblatt is committed to ongoing professional development and also brings research experience to the community. He has participated in multidisciplinary teams investigating retinal prosthesis devices designed to restore visual function for individuals with blindness.
