The Bells Are Ringing
In celebration of the Golden State Warriors’ third championship in four seasons, Long Beach Poly’s Jordan Bell celebrated the well-earned win with a good time and a bottle of Hennessy.
The Golden State Warriors are fresh off their third championship in four seasons by sweeping LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in what was a lack-luster NBA Finals. It feels as if this series was the NBA’s version of “Rocky V” when everyone knows the plot and the outcome, but they watch anyways for the nostalgia.
With that being said, the NBA offseason is going to be much more interesting as fans wait for “The Decision, Part 2” as LeBron is set to leave Cleveland for the second time, but I digress and fans should enjoy the sheer domination that the Warriors are displaying. Even the haters can’t deny that watching the circus three-pointers and the constant drama that comes from Swaggy P, aka Nick Young, and Draymond Green isn’t a little bit entertaining.
It seems each championship parade in Oakland gets better and better each year as well. This year, the parade featured everything from Green having too many adult beverages before being interviewed to Swaggy P and the pride of Long Beach Poly, Jordan Bell, doing their best JR Smith impersonation. Shirtless and out of liquor, they ran to a mob of fans to drink out of a fan’s Hennessy bottle after finishing their own.
Bell was solid for the Warriors during his first postseason run with the team. With their star shooting guard, Stephen Curry, out for the first six games of the postseason with a grade 2 MCL sprains, Bell logged more minutes for the defending champs. Bell played 173 minutes with 41 points, shooting 53 percent from the field. In the finals, Bell averaged 13.5 minutes with 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. To say this was a fairytale season for the rookie would be an understatement.
Bell was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls (38th overall) and traded to the Warriors for $3.5 million. Depending on the decisions of Draymond Green and LeBron James and where they will play next season, NBA fans can expect to see Bell and the Warriors make many more runs to the NBA finals as we are all witnessing a dynasty that’s comparable to the ‘90s Bulls or the “Showtime” Lakers. In any case, it will be a fun offseason, to say the least. Congratulations to Jordan Bell on his first championship.
