Fourteen 54th Place, Long Beach 90803

Rock, Skate, Roll to ElectroFunkTechnoGroove this Thursday with DJ StreetGroove at the Bayshore Roller Rink. This event is open to the public and skaters of all ages and abilities. Bring a camera because this event is sure to make for some hilarious footage of your child, husband, or wife crashing and burning with the best of them. Bring your skates and $8 to enjoy a night of fun with the family at our local roller rink.

Toddler Storytime

Thursday, April 19 | 10:00am-10:30pm

Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library | 5870 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach 90805

Time to sit back and let a professional storyteller entertain your little ones for a bit. Join other parents and their toddlers every Thursday morning at the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library for socializing and story sharing. Storytimes help children master literacy skills and encourage reading-readiness, reading for fun, and library use.

Family Kite Day

Friday, April 20 | 10:00am-2:00pm

Heartwell Park | 5801 E. Parkcrest St., Long Beach 90808

Children are invited to kick off the spring season with a community play date at Heartwell Park! Receive a free kite when you bring three non-perishable food items to donate to the CSULB student food pantry. Let’s hope for a windy enough day to watch our little one’s legs sprinting to release a kite into flight and to watch those kites soar. Enjoy free face painting and carnival games as well! Snacks will be provided for all.

2018 Walk for Kids

Sunday, April 22 | 7:00am-10:30am

Shoreline Aquatic Park

The Walk for Kids™ is a fun, family-friendly 5K walk designed to raise funds and awareness for the services and programs provided by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California. The Long Beach Ronald McDonald House hopes to raise $275,000 from this year's event through sponsorships from committed partners and Walk pledges raised by participants and volunteers. The minimum registration donation for adults (18+) is $25 and kids walk for free! I cannot think of a better way to spend a few hours on a Sunday morning than participating in an event that will benefit our local charities and teach our kids about fitness and giving back to our community.

Straw Challenge: Earth Day at the Art!

Sunday, April 22 | 10:30am-2:00pm

Art Theatre Long Beach | 2025 east 4th St., Long Beach 90814

Continue celebrating Mother Earth with #StrawChallenge special screenings and live Q&As! The activism begins at 10:30 a.m. with the award-winning short documentary STRAWS, which explains the problems caused by plastic pollution and empowers individuals to be part of the solution. The next film, A PLASTIC OCEAN, is an adventure documentary, which follows a team of scientists and researchers as they travel around the world to explore the fragile state of our oceans and uncover alarming truths about plastic pollution, and reveal working solutions that can be put into immediate effect. Each film is followed by Q&A sessions with local community leaders and activists. Let’s teach our kids about plastic pollution in our oceans, as well as ways we can unite as a community to take action for a better future.

Join us in taking the #StrawChallenge today!
