Blooms With A Cause
Starting in June, you can head to Farm Lot 59 on Saturday mornings from 9am-1pm to pick your own flowers. It’s a great place to smell the flowers, escape the hustle bustle, and support local agriculture. Best of all, you’ll come home with a fresh bouquet of fresh, responsibly grown, seasonal flowers hand-picked by you!
Did you know there’s a working urban farm right in the middle of Long Beach? Since 2010, Farm Lot 59 has grown seasonal florals for sale to the public and a variety of produce for donation to Food Finders, which feeds local families. The half-acre farm is run as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, with the mission of inspiring urban farming and promoting sustainable agriculture practices.
Walking the grounds during their summer U-Pick events is to immerse yourself in a setting that feels like nowhere else in Long Beach. It’s a hundred feet off California Avenue and a hidden oasis in the heart of Long Beach. After checking in at the flower shop, stroll down a dirt path to the fenced urban farm, where rows of seasonal flowers and crops grow against the backdrop of Willow Springs Park. You’ll feel miles away from the city as you wander through the fields, harvesting your own bouquet of fresh, organically grown flowers.
More than just a beautiful experience, Farm Lot 59 is dedicated to educating our community about the benefits of local, seasonal flowers and offering an alternative to the conventional floral industry.
Come see, smell, and experience the difference for yourself. Learn more at FarmLot59.org! Farm Lot 59 is located off of Willow St. at 2714 California Ave, 90755
