Small Biz Finds @ Norse Way Village: Vino e Cucina,Trattoria Italiano

By Kathleen Mest

Lorenzo began his career in the hospitality business in Milano, Italy, working in special events. Then he traveled to Disney Epcot to work at the Italian Pavilion. With 38 years of hospitality experience including 20 years as a wine distributor, Lorenzo took over ownership of Vino e Cucino in 2017 (on his birthday!). The restaurant has been a Norse Way staple since 2008, but Lorenzo has made significant improvements to the space including expanding the dining room, enlarging the bar area and creating an outside patio.

This community-driven trattoria serves fresh-to-order multi-regional Italian dishes. Lorenzo knows many customers by name and welcomes all to his restaurant. Expect an “upscale casual” dining experience with tables set for service and an experienced wait staff to take care of you and your guests. The menu changes twice a year for summer and winter season, and offers weekly specials. The wine list is extensive (as you would expect) and offers 50 Italian wines which are updated 2-3 times a year. He also offers a “special” vintage wine list for those who know.

When pressed to name his favorite dish, he went on, “the Carciofini di bracciono, fried baby artichokes filled with mascarpone cream and goat cheese… the Saltimbocca or the Cioppino. Point your finger at any of the pastas — they are all delicious!” They also serve gourmet pizza with a thin, crispy crust to enjoy with an Italian beer.

Vino e Cucina strives to provide their guests with the best possible experience in food and wine. And they succeed.
