REPPIN’ THE CITY: LONG BEACH CLOTHING CO.

Probably the most iconic clothing company in Long Beach is aptly named “Long Beach Clothing Company.” You may recognize their logo on shirts, hats, license plate frames, and more all around the city. Since 2003, Long Beach Clothing Co. has dedicated its brand to creating pride for the city by working with local artists and vendors to create Long Beach branded apparel. 

“At the time [we opened], there were no Long Beach branded retailers. I am proud to say that we were the first,” says owner Cynthia Moore, who runs the store with husband Shawn Moore. Cynthia explains that she first fell in love with the city’s diversity, which is what their brand has always tried to represent. “We release new designs every month and do our best to have something for everyone… just like the city itself… Long Beach has everything!”

Cynthia, who moved to Long Beach to attend CSULB, met and eventually married Shawn, a Long Beach lifer. Shawn’s about as “Long Beach” as they come. He attended Minnie Gant, Stanford, and Millikan before working at West Coast Choppers under Jesse James. He now works at the Port of Long Beach while Cynthia runs daytime operations at the store. 

With two retail stores, one in Bixby Knolls on Atlantic, and the other in Belmont Shore on 2nd Street, the iconic brand is easy to find and well-embedded into the community. As a true family business, Long Beach Clothing Co. is a joy to support.

About Their Brand

“We built this brand to give back to the city,” says Shawn. Adds Cynthia, “The brand itself is made to ‘be proud.’ Long Beach has so much talent and pride. You don’t see that in other cities… people from Long Beach, they’re proud to be from Long Beach.”

Their two most iconic trademark logos, the “Long Beach Clothing Co.” and “Cursive LB” designs, were created by world famous tattoo artist and LA graffiti artist Mister Cartoon (@misterctoons on Instagram). All their newer logos, designs, and accessories are sourced from local artists and creatives.

About The Collab

We gave Long Beach Clothing Co. our magazine’s trademark slogan “Life is Great in the 908” and let them run with the design. They knocked it out of the ballpark. “We wanted to create a retro design featuring my favorite building, Long Beach’s classic Villa Riviera,” said Cynthia. “But we also wanted to make sure we did the slogan justice, showing people having a great time with an iconic Long Beach background, on a bright shirt, ready for the summer season.”

We couldn’t wait to collaborate with Long Beach Clothing Co. this summer leading up to 908 Day (September 8th), our annual city-wide celebration of hometown pride in Long Beach. Last year, we had the day officially recognized by Long Beach City Council!
