Shahnoos Mahdavi is the Internal Medicine Physician at Novel U, a wellness center that helps with weight loss, hormone replacement therapy, and skin and hair care!
What sort of purpose do you feel in your job and/or why do you believe your line of work is important and meaningful?
Aging is a natural phenomenon in our life but managing it correctly will help us like it better.
Optimal health will be gained with the combination of healthy body, soul and mind.
Our purpose in Novel U center is to address all these factors together.
We not only want you to be in a good shape and have good energy, but also want you look prettier and younger and feel better about yourself.
Your satisfaction about your self will affect your mood and energy and your daily life outcome.
Being an Internal Medicine Physician over 20 years, I learned how to address all these needs in the best way to get the ultimate result.
What is the most exciting part of your day-to-day work?
We are excited to meet new people every day, talk to them and understand their concern and help them feel better and look better. Their Smile is the most satisfaction feeling that we gain .
When did you decide you wanted to enter this field? What steps did you take to make that decision a reality?
I decided to be a doctor when I was 7 years old.
At that age, I used to go to the hospital with my mother, (who is a doctor) every day after school.
One day, I was passing the Labor and Delivery hallway when I heard a newborn baby voice and I asked my mom if I can see her. She was able to get me the permission to go to the labor room and see the birth process. I decided to be a doctor to give birth to the babies on that day.
I worked so hard to go to the medical school and residency since then.
It has been never easy but I did not stop the hard work.
Life changed my path toward Internal Medicine specialty.
I have spent most of my life in the Hospitals.
Helping and healing the patient’s is the most satisfying feeling I can get.
For any students, age 12-18 who thinks your job sounds interesting, what advice would you give them to help them learn/train/explore your field?
Being a physician is not easy and needs long life education and training.
It will never stop and there are always new things to learn. If you are interested in this field, you should be ready to scarify yourself, your time and sometimes your family.
Better make sure you have researched a lot and know all its aspects before choosing it.
But it will be so rewarding if you love it.
What make Long Beach a great place to live and work as it relates to your industry?
Long beach has a great potential to grow and has a wonderful population who are kind and easy to work with. I can not wait to expand our Clinic and see more patients everyday and help them to look more beautiful.
