This past July, the iconic community block party and fireworks show lit up the sky over Alamitos Bay. The summertime tradition of Big Bang on the Bay has made a lasting and charitable impact on the city of Long Beach. “This year’s Big Bang on the Bay was nothing short of extraordinary, considering the obstacles we had to endure to make it happen,” says event producer Shane Hardy, and founder of Eminent Giving Initiative (EGI).

Putting on an event of this scale requires a tremendous financial and logistical effort, yet the generosity of donors, businesses and residents make it possible year after year. “Truly, a great success…a community driven event, where local charities benefit, the community benefits - due to the generosity and support from the local Alamitos Bay community, Naples, and the Peninsula,” says founder John Morris and owner of Boathouse on the Bay restaurant.

Thanks to the generosity of event supporters and attendees, EGI awarded over $100,000 to local nonprofits. This year’s beneficiaries included a variety of local organizations such as New Life Beginnings – Women & Children’s Shelter, Autism Partnership Foundation, Belmont Shore Rugby Club, Motive Workforce, Long Beach Unified School District, Grand Prix Foundation, Bixby Knolls Business Association, Creative Class Collective, among others.

Holiday Fundraiser Celebration & Toy Drive
Once again the dynamic duo, Morris and Hardy are joining forces this holiday season to bring joy and generosity to Long Beach families. Hardy’s non-profit will host its annual holiday charity toy drive on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 6pm at Boathouse on the Bay. Guests will enjoy dinner and refreshments, live entertainment, a silent auction, and the stunning Alamitos Bay backdrop—all for a $40 admission and an unwrapped toy donation.
The following day, John Morris will continue the spirit of giving with his 44th Annual Toy Drive Fundraiser Luncheon at Boathouse on the Bay, beginning at 11am.
Together, their efforts will brighten the holidays for local children and families in need. Each year, EGI works closely with Long Beach Unified School District to surprise an elementary school in an underserved neighborhood. Hardy and his team host “holiday giving assemblies” where students learn about good citizenship, the power of giving, kindness and community before the unveiling of the toys. “Seeing the joy on every child’s face makes it all worth it,” says Hardy.
