Virtual Race With A View Offers Family Fun While Helping Others

Now through May 31, the whole family can participate in a virtual 5K/10K—an affordable and healthy activity for all ages.

Virtual Race With A View is a month long event that began on May 1 and continues through May 31, coinciding with National Mental Health Awareness Month. Participants choose when, where, and how far to run or walk.

A special Family Plan allows children ages 17 and under to participate free of charge with one paying adult. Since the event is virtual, kids may prefer to ride bikes or skateboards while Mom and/or Dad runs or walks. And what a great teaching moment for parents it is to be able to share fun moments and explain to them how important it is to support others. T-shirts and participant medals will be available early this summer for all participants.

Register online at virtual.racewithaview.com, and then walk, run, or roll along your favorite route whenever you choose. Be sure to take a photo or a selfie during your virtual race, and post it at www.facebook.com/JFCSLB. You can also share a story or a thought about your walk or run by clicking here. Create a team and invite all your friends and family members, wherever they are in the world, to join you. Since it’s a virtual event, they can participate when and where it is convenient for them.

Virtual Race With A View benefits JFCS of Long Beach and West Orange County as they are currently helping people whose lives have been upended by the coronavirus pandemic and who need mental health counseling, food, and necessities.

Participants in Virtual Race With A View qualify for the Long Beach Trifecta. Virtual Race With A View is the first of three virtual events and is followed by USVETS – Long Beach “Storm the Beach” Virtual 5K/10K on June 13, and Long Beach Meals on Wheels Virtual 5K/10K on July 11. Those participating in all three events will receive a special medal to commemorate their accomplishment and their help to the community.
