Aerial Butterflies Gives Back To Long Beach

The cirque-style entertainment company, Aerial Butterflies, was started by Long Beach native, Hallie Jane. Aerial Butterflies entertains and teaches.

“We teach aerial silks and hoop in downtown Long Beach at Groundwork Fitness; we also teach Parent & Me and beginning gymnastics at Wardlow Park through LB Parks and Recreation,” said owner, HJ. Being the work-centric person she is, a huge part of why she is so busy is because she loves Long Beach and shows it by giving back to the city.

One of the ways HJ and Aerial Butterflies stay connected to the city is through HJ’s involvement in Leadership Long Beach (LLB). She graduated from LLB Institute class of 2014 and is a current board member. LLB Institute is an intensive 10-month program for community leaders wishing to improve their understanding of the opportunities and challenges of the Long Beach community.

Additionally, HJ serves as a Long Beach Education Foundation (LBEF), Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) committee member for the LB Harmony Project, Principle for a Day and Most Inspiring Student. Last, but probably only last for now, HJ sits on the executive board for It’s A Drag To Give (IDG), a drag show around the holidays that invites community members to come show off their inner queen or king to help raise money for different non-profits in Long Beach.

Next on Aerial Butterflies calendar for giving back is the Leadership Long Beach’s 30th Anniversary Celebration. You guessed right, the entertainment sponsor is Aerial Butterflies. All are invited to come see the performers fly in the air for a good cause.

The event, “Night of a Thousand Lights” is an evening of celebration under the stars of downtown Long Beach. The event will take place Saturday, June 8 at 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Early tickets can be purchased through donation to the LLB website. LLB will be celebrating 30 years of leadership, community, and building of the future.

The event will feature a dedication of an LLB Class Wall and artist renditions telling the story of Leadership Long Beach. Food will also be provided by local restaurants such as Portugese Bend, Table 301, BurgerIM, Romeo's Chocolates and more.

“It's a great opportunity for people to see all of the wonderful ways Leadership Long Beach has made Long Beach stronger,” said HJ. “LLB alumni, current Mayor, Robert Garcia, city council members, LBUSD board members, and of course, Aerial Butterflies will be in attendance. Plus I’m coming out of performance retirement and have a special song prepared.”

Be sure to check out the jaw-dropping performances Aerial Butterflies will bring to the table at this year’s LLB 30th Anniversary Celebration. Join the Aerial Butterflies in making an impact in our community.

Special note: The giving doesn't stop there; Aerial Butterflies also gives back to the LB School District by providing discounted rates for school carnivals/events.
