Miyamo Supports And Markets Products Where Proceeds Aid Good Cause Organizations

Miyamo, a socially conscious gift boutique located on 10621 Los Alamitos Blvd. proves to be making an everlasting statement not only in the Long Beach and Los Alamitos community, but globally, by marketing products that benefit philanthropic organizations.

Miyamo is a business owned by Kyle Montooth: a Long Beach native, someone who has always considered himself an environmentalist and advocator for equality.

“My store has products that are made locally, or are fair trade, or otherwise support a philanthropic organization or charitable cause,” owner, Kyle Montooth said.

The ‘Think Global, Shop Local’ store believes in giving back to the community by promoting brands that are socially responsible. Roughly about 80% of what they carry has a charitable impression, holds a philanthropic essence, or is fair trade; which means producers receive a fair price for the goods that they manufacture.

Upon entering the tranquil and pleasant aroma boutique you will encounter a wide variety of product options they have in store. Though all have their own distinctive cause and characteristics, some items have been flying off the shelves at a quick rate. Here are a few to mention:

4Ocean: Bracelets

Made with recycled materials, every bracelet purchased funds the removal of one pound of trash from the ocean and coastlines. Each uniquely-colored bracelet represents an animal or ecosystem threatened by ocean plastic pollution and supports an organization fighting to protect them.

The goal of the product is to educate individuals, corporations, and governments on the impact that plastic has on the ocean. The brand hosts cleanups all over the world, both above and below the water, to raise awareness and change behavior.

Chavez for Charity Erase Hate: Bracelets

This line of colorful bracelets contributes, in a significant way, to some of the most important humanitarian issues facing our world today. The bracelets donate to the Matthew Shepard Organization which empowers individuals to embrace human dignity and diversity through outreach, advocacy, and resource programs.

The goal is to replace hate with understanding, compassion, and acceptance. Each bracelet purchased donates 20% to the Matthew Shepard organization.

SmartyPits: Deodorant

These pastel colored deodorant sticks are proudly aluminum free, paraben free, phthalate free and propylene glycol free. In addition, SmartyPits donates 30 cents from every large stick to breast cancer research and furnishes free deodorant to oncology centers, survivor support events, and non-profit groups.

Each stick of SmartyPits is mixed, poured and labeled by hand. Scents range from coconut mango, lavender rose, eucalyptus spearmint and more. Thoughtfully sourced and cruelty-free ingredients are used.

K. Calor, Save Our Scruff Rehome & Rescue: Baby Onesies and T-Shirts

These t-shirts and baby onesies are Latin-America inspired apparel, uniquely crafted with a purpose. A portion of every K. Calor purchase will be donated to “Save Our Scruff,” an organization that feeds, treats and re-homes street dogs from around the world.

It’s a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and finding them safe and suitable permanent homes through adoption, advocacy, and education. Save Our Scruff divides itself from other rescue organizations because they do not select dogs based on their size, age, or even their breed. A dog in need is a dog in need.

Miyamo is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Be sure to stop on by and get a glance at these one-of-a-kind products that you can't find anywhere else!
