Have you started noticing something a little familiar, yet peculiar, at big events in Long Beach these days? Events seem to be getting a little bit more, well…acrobatic.
That’s all thanks to Aerial Butterflies who was recently named “Best Performance Group in Long Beach” during the Best of Long Beach Awards hosted by LB Home + Living.
Aerial Butterflies is a unique company that works with local performers to provide aerial acrobatics and other eye-catching circus performances at local events. Nothing spices up an event like professionally-performed aerial. Their full list of performance acts includes unicycle, stilt walkers, lollipop gymnastics, aerial cube, hula hoop, aerial fabric, champagne skirt, contortion, burlesque, doubles fabric, aerial hoop, partner acrobatics, fire, and juggling.
Their unique performances add class, style, and flying flavor to both public events and private parties. Recent public performances in Long Beach included It’s a Drag to Give, Long Beach Opera Gala, Downtown Long Beach’s Dia De Los Muertos celebration, the Zombie Walk in Shoreline Village, and the Patrick Henry Elementary School Carnival.
This December, Aerial Butterflies performers can be seen Dec. 15 at the huge “Winter in Willmore” event at Drake Park. They’ll also be downtown on New Year’s Eve at the Waterfront and at the Aquarium with stilt walkers.
And have you seen their experts “wowing” a local crowd and thought, “I might like learning that?” You’re in luck. Aerial Butterflies teaches beginning aerial fabric classes Tuesday and Thursdays at Groundwork Fitness on Pine Avenue. They also recently introduced the “New Student Drop-in Special,” where prospective students can try a class for just $20.
