Over $45,000 Raised for Charities by Naples Rib Company

The results are in! #35YearsofBBQ20DaysofCharity was a huge success! Between Nov. 1 and Nov. 20, Naples Rib Company celebrated their 35th year in business by giving back to the community that has supported them from the beginning.

Naples Rib asked patrons to allocate 20 percent of their guest check to one of the 35 local and national charities participating in the event. Customers were able to pick causes near and dear to their hearts while Naples Rib Company (and their sister store Newport Rib Company) gave back money to these admirable charities. A true win-win-win.

The 20-day-long anniversary celebration resulted in a whopping $45,255 in donations for selected charities.

“The success of this program demonstrates to us that our community loves to give back,” said Dave Ursini, co-owner of Naples and Newport Rib Company. “We are ecstatic at the results and plan on continuing to support the community year-round.”

For Dave and his brother John, it is important that customers and residents in Long Beach and Newport understand their values as a business. They describe themselves as a family-owned and operated, community-focused barbeque and catering restaurant.

The charities that received the most customer-directed donations were the Alzheimer’s Association, Seal Beach Animal Care Center, Women Shelter of Long Beach, and the Captain Rose Family Foundation via Firefighter’s Local 372.

“It was also heartwarming to see some of the local charities do so well,” said John Ursini, co-owner and operator of the Naples Rib Company location. “They work hard year-round to provide assistance to those in need. We are glad that we can support their work through our anniversary celebration.”

Some of the local charities that were popular among diners were Children Today, The Long Beach Ronald McDonald House, and Precious Life Shelter.

“It was an honor to be included for the first time in the 20 days of giving from Naples Rib Co and our supporters were so pleased by the wonderful staff that greeted them whenever they came to eat,” said Precious Life Shelter executive director Theresa Murphy. Precious Life Shelter in Los Alamitos provides residential and supportive services for homeless pregnant women.

“We had out-of-town guests and they were thrilled that Naples celebrated their business success by giving back to charities,” Theresa said. “These funds will be used to buy shoe gift cards for all residents, all of whom work and need specific non-slip, rubber-soled shoes. We never seem to have just the right size in the closet. What a blessing from such a generous family.”

Naples & Newport Rib Company, founded by Fran Ursini in 1984 (Dave and John’s father), has been a long-time community supporter, donating to hundreds of charity fundraisers and events each year.

Dave Ursini concludes, “We feel exceptionally fortunate to have the opportunity to support the local community and we plan on continuing this tradition for years to come!”
