Los Altos Real Estate Agent Shares the Value of Communication

October 10, 2018

Elizabeth Romero strives to be the best real estate agent she can be through constant communication with her clients and family.

Communication is key in every situation. And for Elizabeth Romero of Coldwell Banker Coastal Alliance, it is the most important factor in her professional relationships with clients.

“... I am so big on communication,” Elizabeth said. “I want to my clients to know exactly what is happening at all times—even if I don't have anything to share with them, I might just shoot them a text ‘nothing is happening today.’”

She strives to provide the best communication with all clients after a first-hand experience when she bought her home in Los Altos 18 years ago.

As Elizabeth replays the memory, she realizes all the mistakes made by her real estate agent.

“Now that I am an agent and I look back, I think of x, y and z that should have happened, things that should have been signed or things we [her and her husband] should have known” she said. “There was no communication.”

Coming from a background in sales and a love for homes, Elizabeth used this opportunity to become an agent.

“I did it because I didn't want anyone to be treated that way,” she said. “This is our biggest investment and asset as a homeowner. It should always be a good experience.”

She has now been a real estate agent for over 15 years. Although most of her listings come from the 908,’ she has also sold houses from nearby cities like Westminster and Huntington Beach.

Aside from communication, Elizabeth also stresses that the real estate process is mainly about her clients.

“I don’t look at it as a transaction or how many transactions,” she said. “I really look at helping people, making those connections and becoming friends afterward.”

As an agent, it is also important to be flexible with client’s schedules to accommodate their availability.

“If they are a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and they want to get together with you at 7 p.m., you have to make that happen,” she said. “[There are] so many factors that go in it, you just have to be flexible and roll with it.”
